NAIMA EL MEHDIDevelopment of a water-soluble chaga powder using subcritical water

ABSTRACT

The goal of the presentation is to demonstrate the potential for extracting polyphenols and polysaccharides from chaga using subcritical water extraction and for producing a water‑soluble powder.

BIOGRAPHY

Naïma El Mehdi has a doctorate in chemistry and molecular physiochemistry and more than 25 years of research work under her belt. She joined the team at the Centre d’études et de procédés chimiques du Québec (CÉPROCQ) in 2002 as a researcher. She is involved in various projects in the research and development of bio-industrial technologies. These include research projects on the valorization of marine and plant biomass through the development of value-added bioproducts and the development of eco-extraction and clean separation processes via supercritical fluid technologies. She participates in the development of extraction processes ranging from laboratory scale to pilot trials.
